It is VERY easy to get overwhelmed when following It is VERY easy to get overwhelmed when following the desire for a branding refresh.

Gosh, one year I spoke with 3 different branding specialists and their packages ranged from $2000-$5000 and that didn't even include any photography. That was just colors, and fonts and styling.

So often when our businesses are smaller, we feel the need for a refresh but we don't have the means (or truly the need) for a multi thousand dollar brand re-do. One day that will wonderful but most of us aren't needing that now.

We just need a refresh of fonts, of colors, of vibe. We want new photos to use, with a lot of different backgrounds and outfits. We want authentic photos, ones of a whole mix of expressions and emotions to be able to have fun using them. We need some for the website, some for new profile photos and many for social media.

We also want video clips and b roll for reels.

It was out of all of this (and knowing the infinite value of fun, camaraderie and connection) that Bloom B*tch was born.

Last year all 3 retreats were sold out and this year we have 4 on the calendar. The first one is at the end of April.

Is this something you need this year? We're here for you.

Comment BLOOM to find a 20 minute chat to see if this retreat is a good fit for you this year.
I know this personally from working with people fo I know this personally from working with people for the last 15 years that I now know were neurodiverse.

Before I had this language, I described these people as innovative, creative, passion driver, ahead of their time.

And it’s fantastic that more and more scientific studies are acknowledging this.

ADHD traits are linked to divergent thinking, a core driver of innovation (Stolte et al., 2022)

ADHD mind-wandering may enhance creativity (Fang et al., 2023 — ECNP presentation)

Autistic empathy may be structured around logical care rather than social signaling (Komeda et al., 2019)

Autistic cognition is linked with principled reasoning patterns (Takeuchi et al., 2014)

ADHD cognition can increase collaborative empathy (Meng et al., 2026 – preprint)

This is awesome.
And with all big gifts come the serious downsides.

Mostly… you’re ahead of your time and the world doesn’t know what the frick to do with you.

Running your own business, you realize that what people need is what you offer (the therapy to stay grounded as a mom, the bodywork to unwind decades of tension, the business organization that could save someone hundreds each month)

…but many people don’t realize what you offer is what they need.

It can be insanity-making.

We end up at a standstill because we don’t naturally talk about our work the way people expect us to.

The challenge is not that your work is too strange.
The challenge is that it’s too new to be recognized in old language.

So we either:
try to force our work into boxes that flatten it
 or
avoid talking about it at all because it feels impossible to explain

Both paths leave us unseen… and our work under-received.
The real task is learning how to translate future-oriented work into present-day understanding, without diluting its integrity.

What a task right?

So if you’re feeling very seen by this, I hope you give yourself a pat on the back and acknowledge just how big your role actually is. And give yourself a bit more understanding why you probably haven’t mastered this one yet.

The other day I was talking with a business mentor The other day I was talking with a business mentor and I got on the phone saying how low bandwidth I have been and how just staying afloat in admin tasks is intimidating.

They went on to spend that call talking to me about the MOST complicated funnel ideas, and the synthesizing of a year of material into a book idea and I left that call so angry.

Didn’t they hear me say I am barely making it by each day with the amount of capacity I have right now? DIDN’T THEY HEAR ME!?

But they are not autistic, they don’t have adhd, they don’t have whatever the heck this thing is where every day I have a completely different energy, mood and mental ability. They just don’t get it.

So I just wanted to reach out and say hi, I see you. And may this share be a reminder that you are not alone, you are not crazy. Other business mentors just do NOT get it.

Stay sane out there.

This is is really a love note. I want to honor w This is is really a love note.

I want to honor what “working for yourself” is at times - the overwhelm, incessant thoughts, and intimidating credit card statements.

When we work for ourselves we need to be in charge of:

Invoicing…what is the login for that program you use again? Did you just see another email they raised their prices?

Bookkeeping…that fancy work people say and it makes you feel bad inside. Crap, are you supposed to be tracking things better?

Scheduling…shoot me now, you don’t feel very good sometimes and want to reschedule but you know that it’s going to create an even bigger mess.

Social Media…don’t even start, enough with that phrase. You want to lock it a box and kick it down the stairs never to be seen again.

Audience Growth…wtf even is that? We’re supposed to be meeting new people and getting the word out about ourselves? I work for myself to be a cozy cat lady, lame.

And we haven’t even made it to “content creation”, “list building”, “offers”, and a whole slew of words that you want to light you up but instead they make you feel inadequate and overwhelmed.

Woman, ASK ME HOW I KNOW.

One of the things I am the most careful of in my conversations with people is overwhelm. We can talk next steps all day, but if those steps are too far ahead of where we are in the moment (or lacking understanding on how much capacity we have right now), it’s awful.

Follow me for more super honest conversation (with some good the dark humor) about the trials and tribulations of being neurodiverse and working for yourself.
